Compliance FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Common questions from funders, buyers and institutional partners about Yetu's structure and compliance.

What is Yetu?

Yetu is a mining cooperative (COCYMI), constituted in Kalemie, structuring artisanal miners into a compliant, transparent organisation, paid fairly, protected, and traceable.

Is Yetu officially registered?

Yetu is legally constituted as COCYMI, by a general meeting held in Kalemie on 7 April 2026, under the OHADA uniform act on cooperative companies, and its statutes are signed. Its registration number in the mining cooperatives registry is not published on this site yet: it will appear in the legal notices once the cooperative provides it.

What due diligence standard does Yetu follow?

Yetu aligns its sourcing practice with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, 3rd Edition. See Responsible sourcing for the full framework.

How does traceability work?

Every mineral lot is tracked from the pit to the market through Yetu's digital platform, grade, weight, and chain of custody are recorded at each step.

Who governs Yetu?

Yetu is run by a management board of eight members, elected at the constitutive assembly of 7 April 2026, see Governance.

Where does Yetu operate?

Yetu started in the Democratic Republic of Congo and is designed as a replicable cooperative model, deployed country by country across Africa as new projects are structured.

How can I report a concern?

Anyone can report a concern related to Yetu's operations or sourcing practices, see Responsible sourcing & grievance mechanism.
